Reginald, My Deer Reginald

Ok, even I'll admit the title is a little corny. Ever so fitting though, don't you think? I was moseying around on pinterest.com and came across these felt mounted animal heads. There was a precious little doe, a soft bunny, a squirrel looking chipper and I believe an adorable skunk. They were all a little too whimsical and didn't have enough of their attributes played up. I thought to myself, "Hmm, I'm sure I could whip something up that looked halfway decent." That is exactly what I did, I made a buck named Reginald.

Let me preface this by saying making a pattern for something I didn't know I could make was a bit of a challenge. I spent a good portion of my time eyeballing a picture of a real deer, staring at the yard of felt I bought and halfway doodling on a piece of paper a pattern that really changed every time my pencil met the paper. Once I built up the confidence to just go for it, the rest was smooth sailing. Wire was a big help in the antlers, those suckers weren't very ridged till the wire was rammed through the antlers into poor Reginald's head.

I present to you my newest piece of wall art!

Now I gotta figure out how to make another one of these little warlocks for my dear sister's house... Oi, I should have saved a pattern...
